John Lowday was born in 1954 in Lincolnshire and for the first thirty years or so studied and worked in eastern England. After spending the early part of his career in agriculture and environmental research, the creative challenge of working with timber and making furniture, especially súgán chairs, became irresistible. He made the break in 1987 and now lives in a farmhouse together with his wife and family in the Exe Valley on the Devon/Somerset border. He has had a succesful established business for fourteen years. | |
